Why the American Bison?

America doesn’t need another donkey or elephant. It needs something that represents The People.

For generations, the donkey and elephant have dominated America’s political landscape. They’ve become symbols of two political parties that often seem more interested in fighting each other than serving the citizens they represent.

At The American Party (TAP), we believe it’s time for something different.

That’s why we chose the American bison as our mascot. Not simply because it’s a powerful animal, but because its history, resilience, and symbolism reflect the values we believe America needs to rediscover.

The American Bison: A Symbol of Strength and Resilience

The American bison once roamed North America in enormous herds, numbering in the tens of millions. By the late 1800s, hunting, commercial slaughter, and government policies had pushed these magnificent animals dangerously close to extinction.

Yet the bison survived.

Through conservation efforts and determination, its population began to recover. Today, the American bison stands as a powerful reminder that even after devastating losses, recovery is possible.

That resilience represents the American spirit.

Our country has faced wars, economic hardship, political division, and countless challenges. But throughout our history, ordinary Americans have demonstrated an extraordinary ability to rebuild, adapt, and overcome.

The American Party believes that same strength still exists within The People.

Unity Is Our Greatest Strength

Bison are social animals that live in herds, finding protection and strength through their connections with one another.

That sense of unity is central to what The American Party represents.

For too long, Americans have been encouraged to see their neighbors as enemies simply because they disagree politically. Republican versus Democrat. Conservative versus liberal. Red versus blue.

But here’s what we believe:

The greatest threat to political corruption isn’t another political party. It’s a united American people demanding accountability.

We don’t have to agree on everything to recognize that government should serve its citizens, constitutional rights should be protected, and the same laws should apply to everyone.

Our strength doesn’t come from choosing sides. It comes from finding common ground.

A True American Symbol

The bison is deeply connected to the history and identity of North America.

For many Indigenous nations, bison have long held profound cultural, spiritual, and practical importance. They also became an enduring symbol of the American West and the country’s natural heritage.

In 2016, the American bison was officially designated the National Mammal of the United States.

Unlike the donkey or elephant, the bison isn’t traditionally associated with either major political party.

And that’s exactly why we chose it.

The American Party isn’t about defending the left or the right. It’s about standing up for The People.

Our mascot represents an American identity that reaches beyond political labels.

Freedom, Responsibility, and Standing Our Ground

A bison is powerful, independent, and capable of standing its ground when threatened.

Those characteristics reflect another important principle of The American Party: freedom requires responsibility.

We believe Americans should have the freedom to think independently, question authority, and make decisions about their own lives.

But freedom also carries responsibility—to our families, our communities, and future generations.

Real strength isn’t about blindly following political leaders or defending a party regardless of its actions.

It’s about having the courage to demand accountability, even when doing so challenges our own beliefs.

More Than a Mascot. A Message.

The American Party’s bison features our signature blue and red colors, separated by white, with three white stars.

The design reflects a simple but powerful message: Americans may have different political beliefs, but we still share one country and one future.

We didn’t choose the bison to create another political tribe.

We chose it to remind Americans that our shared identity is greater than our political differences.

The American Party isn’t intended to become another political machine demanding unquestioning loyalty. It’s a community built around independent thinking, constitutional principles, personal responsibility, and government accountability.

Because political power should never belong exclusively to politicians, corporations, or wealthy special interests.

It belongs to The People.

The Bison Represents the America We Believe In

Strong enough to stand its ground.

Resilient enough to overcome adversity.

United enough to protect what matters.

Independent enough to refuse blind obedience.

That’s the spirit behind The American Party’s mascot.

America doesn’t need another symbol of political division. It needs a reminder of what makes us strong when we stand together.

The donkey represents the Democrats. The elephant represents the Republicans.

The bison represents The People.

And that’s exactly where power belongs.

UNITED WE STAND.
