Government Works for The People

The government was never meant to rule over The People. It was created to serve them. So why does it sometimes feel like Washington has forgotten who works for whom?

America was founded on a revolutionary idea: government receives its legitimate authority from the consent of the governed.

Our elected officials are public servants, not rulers. Their responsibility is to represent citizens, protect constitutional rights, and remain accountable for their decisions.

Yet too often, political loyalty takes priority over those responsibilities.

At The American Party (TAP), we believe it’s time to put accountability back where it belongs—at the center of public service.

The Constitution Places Limits on Power

America’s Founders understood that unchecked government authority could threaten individual liberty.

That’s why the Constitution established separate branches of government, checks and balances, and limits on federal power.

These safeguards aren’t supposed to change depending on which political party controls Washington.

The Constitution doesn’t belong to Republicans or Democrats. It belongs to The People.

As explained by the National Archives, the Constitution establishes the framework of America’s federal government.

Understanding that framework is essential to protecting the freedoms it was designed to safeguard.

Accountability Should Never Be Partisan

Here’s a question worth asking:

Why do some Americans demand investigations when the opposing party is accused of wrongdoing, yet defend similar behavior when their preferred politicians face scrutiny?

Government accountability cannot depend on political affiliation.

If a public official abuses authority, misuses taxpayer money, or violates the law, the same standards should apply regardless of party.

Allegations still require evidence, and everyone deserves due process. But political loyalty should never become an excuse to avoid legitimate questions.

If we’re only demanding accountability from the other side, we’re not defending principles. We’re defending a team.

The People Must Take Responsibility, Too

Government accountability doesn’t begin and end with elections.

It requires informed citizens who pay attention, ask questions, examine evidence, and participate in their communities.

We cannot expect government to respect constitutional limits if citizens stop caring about those limits.

And we cannot demand honest leadership while blindly defending politicians who break promises or refuse to answer legitimate questions.

Real accountability starts when Americans place principles above personalities.

It’s Time to Put The People First

The American Party isn’t about replacing one political establishment with another.

It’s about bringing Americans together around constitutional principles, responsible citizenship, and a government that answers to the public.

We don’t need to agree on every political issue to agree that our leaders should operate within the law and serve the citizens who entrusted them with authority.

Because government doesn’t own America. The People do.
